What is the idea?
The idea is simple:
US$ 1,000,000 by selling 1,000,000 pixels for US$ 1.–– each.
Everyone is welcome to buy pixels, which are available in 100–pixel 'blocks' (each measuring 10x10 pixels). You will see that the Pixels4Help webpage is divided into 10,000 of these 100–pixel blocks (hence there are 1,000,000 pixels in total). The reason for selling them in 100–pixel blocks is because anything smaller would be too small to display anything meaningful.
The pixels you buy will be displayed on the homepage permanently. The homepage will not change. The ProtectStar Foundation guarantee to keep it online for at least 10 years. You will have a piece of internet history!
Who is ProtectStar Foundation?
The charitable ProtectStar Foundation is internationally active in carrying out solution-oriented work to combat social poverty and lack of education provision. We also work in the fields of information technology and data security. Our work, moreover, helps to reduce the difference in the availability of computers in richer and poorer parts of the world; and thus to bridge the digital divide.
The aim and objective is the promotion of: People ( help for children and young adults, the elderly, and provision of development aid), Education ( Personal and Social Development and Cultural projects), Science and Research, Educational Establishments (for the Dissemination of IT/data security skills), Development aid (in the form of technical aid and the supply of goods or capital), Infrastructure development (in countries with poor IT provision).
The financial support which the ProtectStar Foundation provides is aimed at alleviating human need; both economic need, but also spiritual, intellectual and physical need, by supporting projects in humanitarian, social, artistic and scientific fields. The projects supported by the ProtectStar Foundation are developed over the short- and medium-term; while working in direct collaboration with the people who need our help. Our individual approach assists people to reclaim a secure future. Effective methods which increase people’s self-reliance and carefully-planned education and training projects are the hallmarks of the success of the ProtectStar Foundation.

What will you do with the money?

Why can't I buy one single pixel?
The reason is because you can't display anything meaningful in one pixel – nor click it easily – so visually, it would be pointless. Furthermore, with thousands of random tiny coloured dots all over the place, the homepage would look ghastly.
We also thought that the site would appeal more to people with businesses/websites to advertise than it would to individuals, or to put it more accurately, businesses would pay more to have a meaningful graphic on the homepage. Hence the minimum purchase is $100 – a 10x10 block.
If you really want to own a single pixel, there is always the option of clubbing together with your friends/family/colleauges and buying a 10x10 block.
How long will Pixels4Help be online?
The Pixels4Help webpage will be online for 10 years guaranteed, however the aim is to keep the site online forever.
The idea is to create a webpage that is permanent. Everything on the internet keeps changing so fast, it will be nice to have something that stays solid and permanent for many years. You can be a part of that!
